Who we are
Zach, Reg and I (The China-teers as we’re calling ourselves!) will be taking our trip to China in May, before the Olympics. We’ll start in Beijing, of course, and do the local sites and stay at the 4/5-star Kempinski Hotel near the Great Wall!
The three China-teers will be traipsing through parts unknown to learn more about a fascinating country and culture! Although I’m Hong Kong-born, I will be as out of my element as my fellow travelers! I’ll be taking four Mandarin tapes with me and will finally learn how to ask where the bathroom is (ce suo zai nar?), which, come to think of it, may be the one most important question I’ll ever ask! We will also be looking forward to the various cuisines we could sample. Both regional but also the indigenous specialties. I wonder if I’ll truly find the “Asian Chicken Salad” of my people.
We hope to entertain and enlighten you on traveling through China on our own and without a travel agent! (Yikes!) Our first stop is Beijing so start there and we’ll fill in the other days as we travel - provided we have Internet access. In some places, access is as expensive as $13/day!
